What are Smart Cities?

A smart city is a place where traditional networks and services are made more efficient by using digital solutions for the benefit of residents and businesses, using digital technologies for better use of resources and less environmental burden.

This is achieved through smarter urban transport networks, upgraded water and waste disposal facilities and more efficient ways of lighting and heating buildings.

Smart cities have a more interactive and responsive administration, safer public spaces and meet the needs of the entire population. A smart city offers services that are accessible through digital applications and their purpose is for citizens to enjoy a better quality of life.
